The idea of feedforward is structured around two very simple rules:
#1: No feedback about the past
#2: no judgment or criticism of ideas (treat ideas as a gift)
How does it work:
Each person picks one area to improve and this area for improvement needs to come from their heart. They will then say to someone else or to the group “My name is … and I want to get better at…” and others will give them 2 quick ideas that they could use to help them reach that goal.
This idea is focused on the future or the things you can change not on the things that you can’t change. When we focus on criticism or the judgment of the ideas presented to us we get caught up in the discourse where we are constantly composing our next statement or argument to prove we belong or that we are smarter than someone else. By focusing on the future and just hearing others’ ideas we can pull everyone up around us, we are all growing and finding our way to reach our goals. In this way, we are all the same.
